T-Studs are steel fasteners with a large square or rectangular head. They have a shoulder (typically 2.0-4.0 mm in length) on which sits a round washer that can be either fixed or floating. T-Studs are used in automotive applications where the head is installed and retained into a plastic molding leaving the threads exposed which are then used to attach the sub-assembly to the vehicle later in the process. T-Studs typically have a pre-installed gasket or o-ring on the washer which reduces NVH and can provide a watertight seal in specific applications. They are typically used in spoilers, hood vents and grills but can be used in many other applications. T-Studs are available in different sizes, finishes and materials to suit various applications.
